Questions

Is this a flood map or an engineering survey?

No. It is a decision aid. It reads nearly 30 years of modelled river flow for the grid cell nearest your address and turns it into plain advice. It is not parcel-level, not a survey, and not a substitute for local hazard maps or the people who live there.

How accurate is it?

The river data comes from a global model with cells of about 5 km. It can pick the wrong river, miss small streams and drains, and says nothing about street drainage, your floor level or your building. The brief tells you when the data for a place looks weak. Storage heights are rules of thumb, labelled as estimates.

What does the brief tell me?

How the area has flooded: the wettest months and seasons, how high the biggest peaks have run compared with normal, whether it is getting worse, and when the rainy season peaks. Then what to ask the landlord, which clauses to add, and how high to store goods.

Which languages?

English, Burmese, Thai, Vietnamese, Filipino, Bengali, Swahili, French and Spanish. More languages are added automatically when machine translation is available. Native speakers should review wording that matters to you.

Do I need an account?

No, to try it. The free demo works with example addresses or your own pin. An account lets you keep briefs, get your first full brief free, and save addresses for alerts.

How do the alerts work?

In your area's high-water season we check the river forecast daily. If flow is forecast to rise well above that place's own history, you get a short message. We do not alert outside the season and we do not repeat the same warning.

Decision aid, not a survey. HighWater Brief reads modelled river data on a grid of about 5 km. It can pick the wrong river and cannot see street-level flooding. Use local knowledge and official hazard maps too.
